Across Regina Public Library's eight Branches, there are a wide range of improvements that are needed to maintain the operational effectiveness of the facilities.
Since early 2005, work has been underway to identify the essential work that needs to be carried out and to obtain estimates on the costs of carrying out this work.
Operations of each Branch are being reviewed to assess the changing needs of each location.
Over the next five years, as funds become available through the RPL Capital Campaign, projects will be undertaken to bring each of the Branches up to a reasonable operating standard.
On a Branch-by-Branch basis, the following options for improvement were included in the RPL's brochure - A New Direction, The RPL in 2005 and Beyond.
Albert Branch Options
- Complete renovation of the building.
- Relocation options to space in the neighbourhood.
- Construction of a new Branch on available neighbourhood space.
- Fundraising and partnership options will be pursued.
Connaught Branch Options
- Basement replacement.
- Additional space provided through a building expansion.
- Complete renovation of the building.
- Fundraising and partnership options will be pursued.
George Bothwell Branch Options
- At this time, there are no major facility improvements planned.
Glen Elm Branch Options
- Relocation of the main entrance to the west side of the building.
- Installation of an elevator and barrier-free washrooms.
- Renovations in the basement space to accommodate office and/or workspace.
- Fundraising and partnership options will be pursued.
Prince of Wales Branch Options
- Options for addressing the deteriorating building and foundation will be considered including:
- replacement of the basement;
- new construction on the existing property;
- relocation of the Branch to the Core-Ritchie Neighbourhood Centre or other available neighbourhood space.
- Cost estimates for the possible options will be developed.
- Fundraising and partnership options will be pursued.

Regent Place Branch Options
- Lease renewal options at the current location.
- Relocation options to space in the neighbourhood.
Sherwood Village Branch Options
- Relocation options for space in the neighbourhood.
- Construction of a new Branch on available neighbourhood space.

Sunrise Branch Options
- At this time, there are no major facility improvements planned.
