"From the Vault: Archives on the Big Screen" Event on Wednesday, Feb. 3

You are cordially invited to attend the "From the Vault: Archives on the Big Screen" at the Regina Public Library Film Theatre (2311 12th Avenue) on Wednesday, February 3 at 7:00 p.m.

Join Master of Ceremonies, Fred Clipsham, and other special guests for an evening of education and entertainment featuring short films from archives in Saskatchewan to help celebrate the 5th annual Archives Week. The week honours our province's rich and vibrant documentary heritage and the tremendous work that has gone into ensuring its ongoing preservation, and to promote the continuing importance of archives in our communities.

Film goers will dig up the details on ground-breaking research at the University of Saskatchewan in the 1930s. They will watch archival documents come to life while learning about "A Curious Friendship" and "A Chaplain’s War." They will also enjoy the "Spectacle, Sport and Story" of Germany’s politically charged 1936 Olympic Games.

After a short intermission, the feature presentation of the romantic film A Prairie Romance will be screened. Partially filmed at the Motherwell Homestead, this film tells the love story between a beautiful and intelligent young woman and an ambitious young man wanting to leave Saskatchewan to seek his fame and fortune. Will she convince her beau to stick around in Saskatchewan or will they be parted forever? Find out next Wednesday night at 7 pm...
