Charles Wilkins' new book, The Wild Ride: A Chronicle of the North West Mounted Police 1873-1904, is a brilliantly illustrated history of the Canadian West and the North West Mounted Police--from the throes of Confederation and the Red River Rebellion, to the arrival of the railway in Western Canada, and the Klondike Gold Rush. The author will talk about the book using letters, diaries and memoirs, and a collection of photos, drawings and maps.
