The Last Steamship on
Tuesday, February 1, 2011
at the RPL Film Theatre, Central Library,
from 7 pm to 9 pm
The Last Steamship chronicles the events surrounding the 1908 wreck of the SS City of Medicine Hat, which was the first and only nautical disaster in prairie history. The ship crashed into the newly constructed Traffic Bridge and sank to the bottom of the South Saskatchewan River. Nearly a century later divers recovered the anchor from the ill-fated vessel sparking an intensive underwater excavation to discover more artifacts. The documentary filmmakers will be on hand to introduce their film and answer questions afterwards.
