How do I place a hold?

You may place a request on almost any item in our catalogue if it is currently checked out to another patron, or on order. Please note that DVDs may only be requested from your regional library's collection (for example, a Regina Public Library borrower cannot request a DVD from Saskatoon Public Library or vice versa).
You may have up to 100 requests on your card at a given time.
Begin by logging in to your Library account. Once you are logged on you can perform a catalogue search for an item and click on the "request it" button directly beneath item. After clicking on the request button, you will be directed to a new page where you can select where you would like to pick up the item when it is available.
Alternatively, you may present your Library card at any RPL location or Saskatchewan Public Library, or contact us by telephone and provide your Library card number. Library staff will place your request.
You will be notified when the item becomes available for pick-up.
What if I have difficulty placing requests?
There are several things that could be going wrong. First, make sure that you are entering your barcode and PIN correctly. Next, ensure that the item you wish to request is, in fact, requestable. Toys, Book Club in a Bag kits, Daycare blocks, magazines, comics and Reference items cannot be requested. If you are still having trouble, try updating your Internet Explorer or Firefox browser.
In addition, be sure to turn off or disable any accelerators or proxy servers that you may be using (note: accelerators are built in to some browsers and some toolbars). Lastly, clear your browser's cache and restart your browser before trying again.
