How do I find items the Library doesn't have?
Regina Public Library, along with several other Saskatchewan public library systems, is now linked to a single online catalogue making it easier for patrons to find the materials they want.

What is an Interlibrary Loan?
If you can't find the item you want on the online catalogue, we can get it for you from another library...anywhere in Canada!

Who can use this service?
Patrons with a valid RPL card can request items by Interlibrary Loan.

How to request an Interlibrary Loan?
To request an Interlibrary Loan item, you have 2 options:
  • Order books or microfilm online by using the Title Request Form
  • Visit any one of our 9 Library locations
To receive a photocopy of a magazine or journal article, please complete the Copy Request Form. Photocopy charges apply. See section below for details.

What is the cost?
The Interlibrary Loan service is free, but there is a charge for requesting photocopies.

The cost for photocopied materials is:
1-5 pages:$1.50
6-10 pages:$2.50
11-20 pages:$5.00
21-30 pages:$7.50

An additional $2.50 will be charged for each additional 10 pages. GST applies to photocopy fees.

Payment options include cash, cheque, credit card or debit.

How long does it take?
Turnaround times and loan periods vary depending on the lending library.

Please submit your request with accurate information. If you are not sure of the title, please check with an RPL staff member before submitting your form.

You will be notified when your requested item is available for pick-up.

Can Interlibrary Loans be renewed?
Yes, in many cases the lending library will allow an item to be renewed.

Where are Interlibrary Loan items picked-up and returned?
You can pick-up and return Interlibrary Loan items at any Regina Public Library location.

Items not available from Interlibrary Loan
  • Items available in the catalogue
  • Books published in the current calendar year
  • DVDs, videos, audio books, CDs, and other audio-visual and multimedia items
  • Whole issues of magazines
  • Archives Canada will not lend archival material and will not lend microfilm reels. If a patron is looking for genealogical, military, aboriginal, historical ,deportation and other Canadian records, please visit http://heritage.canadiana.ca/ site to find the reel and download the information that you are looking for either at the branch library or at home.
