Albert Branch is an inner-city branch that serves the North Central area of Regina. A significant segment of the population in this area is of Aboriginal ancestry; the Branch offers an extensive collection of adult and juvenile items that focus on Aboriginal peoples. The Branch also offers programming that develops knowledge and understanding of the diverse cultural groups in Regina, while highlighting the Aboriginal community.

The Aboriginal collection includes fiction and non-fiction titles, CDs and cassettes, periodicals, and Cree language material. The Cree language material consists of workbooks, dictionaries, flashcards and children's picture books.

Albert Branch also has a regular library collection of books, movies, and music that features current, high demand, high interest materials. Visitors to the branch can expect to find:
  • The Leader-Post newspaper, the latest popular magazines, and more than 26,000 books
  • Nearly 1,100 music CDs
  • More than 1,000 videos and DVDs
  • A growing collection of graphic novels and comic books
  • A permanent book sale table
Computer Workstations
Albert Branch has 4 Web-accessible computers available for public use. Additionally, through the Albert Branch Committee Project, the Branch also houses a computer lab, which has 12 computers available to access the Web, word processing software and special learning software. There is a lab facilitator available at all times to provide assistance if needed.

This branch has two meeting rooms, which are available for organizations and community groups to rent for a fee.

Class Visits and Outreach
Teachers are invited to schedule class visits to the Branch. We offer tours and book blocks for area schools and child care centres.

Albert Branch is unique in Canada. Community members have a strong voice in staffing, materials selection, and program planning.

The Albert Branch Committee welcomes North Central community residents who would like to join the committee. Meetings are the first Thursday of every month at 7:00pm. If you are interested in libraries, and particularly your community library, please consider joining the neighbourhood committee.
