In 1966, Regina Public Library opened its first shopping mall location in what was then known as Regent Park Branch.
For nearly 30 years, Regent Place Branch called 107 Albert Street home and provided the community with a full-service Library Branch.
In February 2012, the Branch moved into a temporary location in the Regina Market Mall while the new Regent Place Branch was being designed.
When completed the new Regent Place Branch will:
- Be almost 30% bigger (the old Branch was 9,000 and the new Branch is 11,500 square feet).
- Allow the community greater flexibility in accessing our collections and programs.
- Be a welcoming space that is designed to meet the needs of the community.
- Have new shelving and furniture.
- Provide better access and parking.
While in our temporary home we will:
- Be open our regularly scheduled hours.
- Have a smaller space (1,500 square feet).
- Offer our patrons limited services while we are in transition.
- These services will include:
- Programming for preschoolers
- Popular Picks
- Browsing collection for all ages
- Small DVD collection
- Hold Pickup
- 24-hour outdoor book drop beside the temporary branch
- Two patron computer work stations as well as wireless Internet service.
- Wheelchair accessible washroom
During the redesign of Regent Place Branch we encourage our patrons to participate in the programming at our other locations.
By adding additional programming and temporary relocation of staff to our other Branches, our patrons will receive the same high quality of service that they have come to expect from Regina Public Library.
Class Visits and Outreach
Teachers are invited to schedule class visits to the Branch and/or arrange for a staff member to pay a visit to area schools.
