New Prince of Wales Information (PDF)
- New Prince of Wales Branch is now open.
- The new branch will be attached to the south side of the Core Ritchie Neighbourhood Centre (445-14th Avenue) - only two blocks east of the current branch.
The current Prince of Wales Branch is located at 2188 Broder Street (corner of Broder Street and 14th Avenue.).
"Restoring Our Branches" is one of the key priorities outlined in the Library's Strategic Plan.
- This is RPL's first new branch since 1995.
- We will be holding a formal grand opening event in October.
The size of the new branch will be around 3,400 square feet on one level - about three times larger than the current branch size.
- Total cost for the building is just over $1.5 million.
- This new branch project has been developed in cooperation with the City of Regina.
- Library Board created the Library Home Lottery five years ago, to raise funds for Branch Capital improvement projects.
- The new Branch was built using only Lottery proceeds and donations.
- Branch features 2 self-check machines, with the ability to pay fines at the station via pin-pad.
- There will be a 24 hour bookdrop available at this branch, which is reachable from curbside.
- Currently the collection has just under 10,000 items with an additional 1500 being added in a short order.
