Learn Cree, with Reconciliation Through Language Learning, a beginner language program aimed at revitalizing Treaty Four territory's Indigenous languages that were lost through Residential Schools.Additional Information
Date Range: Thursdays from October 6th to December 8th, 7:00-8:00pm.
This program is offered in partnership with Reconciliation Regina. Reconciliation Regina and Regina Public Library will host Reconciliation Through Language Learning, a beginner language program series aimed at revitalizing Treaty Four territory’s Indigenous languages that were lost through Residential Schools. The languages that will be part of the series include: Cree, Saulteaux, Dakota/Lakota/Nakota, and Michif. Each series will run for 10 weeks. This Cree program is the first of these offerings.
All classes will be recorded with links added to both partner's websites and social media accounts.
The goal of Reconciliation Regina is to truly embark upon a meaningful process of reconciliation, to honor, acknowledge and accept responsibility for, to own, and participate in, redressing the harm done from residential schools. This involves a process that has no definitive roadmap, rule book or process to follow on the path forward. This is, in fact, uncharted territory that individuals and organizations will embark upon in different, creative and meaningful ways.
