Boris Karloff's Stay in Saskatchewan

One of the famous and often repeated stories surrounding the 1912 Regina Tornado is the one regarding the legendary actor, Boris Karloff, and his part in the benefit concert to help the survivors of the disaster. In the latest issue (Spring 2007 Volume 59 Number 1) of the Saskatchewan History , Stephen Jacobs not only describes Karloff's stay in Saskatchewan, but he also dispels this long-held notion. So what was Karloff doing at the time of the Regina Tornado? What about afterwards? Did he stick around to help out in the relief efforts? To find out more, check out pages 27-39 of this issue. Please note that the article is an excerpt for Jacobs' forthcoming book More Than a Monster: The Life and Work of Boris Karloff.

In his acknowledgments, the author also thanks Sharon Mairer and the staff of the Regina Public Library for their research assistance. Way to go Sharon!
