Dylan Miner Residency Project
Organized by Dunlop Art Gallery and MacKenzie Art Gallery in collaboration with Regina Public Library Albert Branch, North Central Community Centre, Mother Teresa Middle School and Kitchener School
September 15 to October 2
This initiative invited Métis artist Dylan Miner to spend time in Regina this spring, creating a community-based art installation in collaboration with local Indigenous artists Keith Bird, Katherine Boyer, Stacey Fayant, and Eagleclaw Thom, and community participants. During his residency, which began in early May, Miner worked directly with these artists, who have, in turn, each engaged a community group in the creation of a collaborative low-rider bike, a continuation of Miner’s well-known Anishnaabensag Biimskowebshkigewag (Native Kids Ride Bikes) series. The project creates sites for intergenerational collaboration and exchange, and honours traditional stories, knowledge, and artmaking techniques, as well as contemporary Native youth culture.
