Referencing Joseph Beuys’ 1965 performance, How to explain pictures to a dead hare, where the artist, face covered in gold leaf and honey, toured an exhibition with a dead hare cradled in his arms, Montreal-based artist Rachel Echenberg and her daughter Clara Echenberg-Worsnip cover each other’s faces and heads with honey and gold leaf, a tender, absurd act placing both mother and daughter in the role of the artist-teacher.
