    What hours is the library open?

    Our hotline is available Monday-Tuesday, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10:00am to 6:00pm, Wednesday-Thursday from 10:00am-7:00pm, and Sundays 1:00pm-5:00pm.


    What are you doing to ensure the safety of your staff and customers when you open?

    We're following the required guidelines from the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan, using recommendations from the Saskatchewan Health Authority and learning from the experiences of other public libraries.

    Our safety measures include:

    • Social distancing protocols for being in, and moving through the library
    • Cleaning protocols
    • Quarantining materials before checking them in; note that returned materials may appear on your account as due to this holding period
    • We ask that customers place materials they've handled at the library in marked grey bins for quarantine
    • Masks are required for staff
    • Modifying services and how they’re delivered, to allow for safe social distancing.  
    • There are fewer seats, modified floor plans, limited capacities, redirected crowd flow in certain areas, sneeze guards, and other changes to limit contact.
    Can I use the computers at the library?

    Yes. Computer stations are available in each branch, with modifications for safe social distancing.

    Stations are located farther away from each other. Touch screens are not be available. Suggested time limits may be in effect, and cleaning protocols will be followed.

    Can I browse like normal now that libraries are open?

    Yes, but we ask that customers place materials they've handled in marked grey bins so that staff can quarantine these materials. This complies with the Government of Saskatchewan's guidelines for public libraries. 

    Can I sit and read in the library or stay in the library for long periods of time?

    We have to remove most seating and tables, and we're asking people to limit their time at the library in order to meet occupancy standards for health and safety.

    Will the Dunlop Art Galleries be open?

    Yes. As exhibitions are ready, you will be able to enter the gallery spaces to view them, while practicing social distancing.  

    You will also be able to return and borrow art from our collection.  

    Is the RPL Film Theatre open?

    Yes. The RPL Film Theatre will open for free screenings.

    Can I use the Digital Media Studio?

    Yes. You will be able to book time to use the equipment and resources in the Digital Media Studio. Appointments will be scheduled to ensure physical distancing is observed in the space. Hours may vary in accordance health and safety procedures.

    Can I book a meeting room?

    No. At this time, you will not be able to book time in RPL meeting rooms.

    Are there in-person programs?

    Not yet. We will continue to offer online programming via Zoom. In the future, we hope to add outdoor programs, and then indoor programs, as Provincial guidelines change to allow for larger gatherings.   

    Can I borrow toys, board games and kits?

    Not at this time.

    Can I borrow musical instruments?

    Yes, musical instruments will be available to borrow when the library opens. 

    Are you charging fines or fees on library materials?

    Overdue fines are being waived until the end of 2020.

    Starting on January 1, 2021, RPL will no longer charge overdue fines for library materials.

    We are not charging overdue fees, but items that are kept 30 days past the due date are automatically charged a replacement fee and a $7 processing fee.

    If an item is returned in good condition within six (6) months of the payment date, with the original receipt, a refund is provided.

    What services are not available given health and safety changes?

    The following services and materials are not available, but we’ll continue to evaluate, adapt and add services as we go.

    • Meeting room bookings 
    • In-person programs 
    • Touchscreen computers 
    • Toys 
    • Board Games, and
    • Language and other kits.
    Will you be open on holidays this summer?

    No. All locations, curbside pickup, and hotlines will be closed on:

    • Labour Day – September 6-7
    Are branch Booksale items be available?

    Yes, Booksale carts are available and items are free of charge, until further notice.

    Is the library accepting donations of books and other materials?

    RPL will not be accepting donations of books and other materials, until further notice.

    I am not an RPL customer. Can I pick up holds at an RPL location?

    SILS customers can select RPL branches and any other participating SILS locations as their pick-up location.

    Can I bring my own reusable bag into the library?

    Yes, however you will have to pack it yourself as RPL staff will not handle outside bags.

    Can I still get change for the bus from the library?

    In an effort to minimize cash handling, we will not make change for any reason, including not providing change for the bus.

    For further questions regarding bus fare, the City’s Transit Info Centre at 2124 11th Ave, M-F until 6pm and Saturdays until 4:30pm.

    Is Outreach Services opening?

    Outreach services are available at the Central library! 

    Holds Pick Up is available at the main desk of the Central Library. Accessible computer stations are available at Central Adult and George Bothwell locations.

    Outreach deliveries began on July 14th. Browsing collections of Daisy Discs, MP3s are available at Central Adult, George Bothwell, Regent Place, Sunrise, and Sherwood Village locations.

    RPL Live Chat

    RPL's online chat service is only available during the Library's regular hours of service when staff are logged on and ready to help you. During these support hours you will be able to initiate a live chat with library support staff by selecting the purple LIVE CHAT graphic displayed in the bottom right section of your screen.
