We are open!

Updated: August 7, 2020

All library branches, Dunlop Art Gallery locations, and RPL Film Theatre are now open!

Branch and gallery hours are open 10:00am to 6:00pm Monday to Saturday and 1:00 to 5:00pm on Sunday, except Connaught and Glen Elm Branches, which are closed on Mondays as usual.

The Film Theatre is open for screenings on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and all screenings will be free until further notice. Learn more here

Our primary focus is to provide our customers with computer access, and access to materials through browsing and holds pickup. We are limiting opportunities for people to stay and gather in the library at this time.

RPL’s Re-Open Team has been assessing and adapting our spaces. There are significant changes in place with the removal of some furniture, installation of sneeze guards, revised floor plans, and the application of one-way traffic paths at several locations.

We're doing everything we can to make the library safe:

  • There are a limited number of people allowed in a branch at one time;
  • Materials are quarantined for 72 hours before being put back on shelves;
  • We ask that customers place materials they've handled at the library in marked grey bins for quarantine;
  • Hand sanitizer is available to customers in multiple locations throughout our branches;
  • Sanitizing wipes are available to customers to disinfect equipment like computer keyboards before they use them;
  • We encourage customers to wear masks when they’re in the library, and masks will be available if necessary;
  • We've spaced things out for social distancing; and
  • We’ve developed cleaning protocols for our staff consistent with provincial requirements

Virtual Library Cards

Our branches are open, and our physical collection is now available for in-person visits or curbside service.

If you registered for a library card between March 16 and July 9, 2020, you received a Virtual Library Card.

This type of card provides you with access to our digital collection but not to our physical collection.

Please visit one of our branches with your ID so we can give you a free full service library card which will also let you borrow from our large physical collection.

If you prefer to continue using the library online, we still have plenty of digital services and content available for you.

Services available

Branch services include:

Curbside Pickup

While we encourage our customers to come into our branches, and to use our self-service tools to check out their holds and other items they find on our shelves, we offer curbside holds pickup service at all branches for customers who don’t wish to enter a branch, or when occupancy restrictions don’t allow customers to pop into the branch to pick up their holds. To use this service, customers will be asked to phone a dedicated number when they arrive at the branch to pick up holds.

Fines are still suspended

Fines are suspended until September, but if you have fines or lost item charges and want to pay them, we encourage the use of contact-less payment by debit or credit card.

Not available right now

We’ll continue to evaluate, adapt and add services as we go, but for the time being, the following services and materials will not be available:

  • Meeting room bookings
  • In-person programs
  • Early literacy workstations
  • Toys
  • Board Games
  • Language and other kits
  • Print newspapers
  • RPL MovieBox at the Regina Sportsplex (No fines will be charged for MovieBox materials.)
