Your Library Card and Account

How do I get a library card when the library is closed?

Even though we're closed, we can still get you a library card!

    Follow this process:

    • Fill in and submit this online registration form.
    • On completion, you will receive a temporary barcode that you can use with your PIN to register for programs immediately.
    • To access our digital services, call us at 306-777-6000, between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm Mondays - Saturdays or 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm on Sundays, to verify your identity and residency in Regina and we will upgrade your card to a digital services card.
    • If you are unable to fill out the online form, call us at 306-777-6000, between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm Mondays - Saturdays or 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm on Sundays, and we will fill out the form for you and verify your identity and residency in Regina over the phone.

Please note: This is a temporary card that expires after three months.

When Regina Public Library reopens, we ask that you come in to any library branch and show identification and proof of residency and we will provide you with a permanent library card. With a permanent card, you can borrow physical materials and continue to access digital services and registered programming.

It's hard to remember my library card when I want to sign in to my account. Is there something else I could use?

Yes! Your account allows you to set a Username to use instead of a library card if remembering all those numbers or typing them in is too much trouble.

    To set a username:

    1. Log in to the site.
    2. Click on your name to open the My Account functions.
    3. Click on My Settings.
    4. Click on Change Username
    5. Enter the username you would like to use and then verify the name.
    6. Click Submit.

Your username must be between 4 - 50 characters long with no spaces and must start with a letter but can contain numbers.

You can use your username to:

    • log in to your library account
    • place holds on library material
    • access our public computers and loanable laptops
    • access our digital services
    • register for programs

If you need to change your username, simply follow the same steps as setting a username.

Staff members cannot see or change your username.

Can children have their own library card?

Children (anyone under the age of 14) may have their own library card at any age their parent or guardian wishes to give them one. Parents / guardians can follow our current process for getting a library card for their child while library locations are closed.

Parents / guardians are responsible for all materials borrowed on their child's card and any monetary charges resulting from their child's use of the library.

My library card has been lost / stolen - what do I do?

Your Library card is like a credit card, so it is important to let us know immediately if your card has been lost or stolen.

Contact us by any of the methods shown on this page or by contacting any RPL location directly. There is a $3.00 fee to replace a lost card.

I forgot my PIN! Can you reset it?

If you have an email address on file with us, you can reset your own PIN.

Don't have an email address on file with us? No problem! Contact us via any of the methods listed on this page and we will be happy to assist you! Please have your library card and identification nearby as we will ask you verification questions to protect the security of your account.

How do I update the contact information you have on file for me?

You can update your email address or your phone number in the Settings area of your account.

Mailing address changes can be made via Express Addressor by contacting us at any RPL location.

How do I check the status of my library account?

Begin by logging in to the site at the top of the page.

Once you have logged in you can:

    • View and renew items currently checked out (if renewable)
    • Learn the status of your requests
    • Check if you have overdue fines
    • See the programs for which you have registered
    • View your personal information
    • See and update your notification preferences
    • Change your Personal Identification Number (PIN)
    • Enable and view your reading history
    • Create a username
    Does my card expire?

Library cards expire every 3 years. If you have an email address or a phone number that can receive text messages on file with us, you will receive a notice alerting you that your library card is about to expire so you can renew it before your service is interrupted. To update your card, you may contact any RPL location or other Saskatchewan public library. Do note that some specialty cards must be renewed in person.

How do I pay outstanding fines on my card?

You can check the amount owing on your card by logging in to the site at the top of the page. Library fines can be paid online with a Visa or Mastercard.

During the library closures due to COVID-19, overdue fines have been waived back to March 13, 2020. In addition, all due dates have been extended until further notice.

You can access our digital services regardless of how much you may owe in fines or fees.
