Join Ashley Schmalenberg, owner of Saltine Baking Company for a quick intro to the world of sourdough baking. Ashley will show how a starter is created, and how to tell when it is ready for baking.

  • What is sourdough bread and why is it considered healthier than the commercially produced alternative
  • How to create your own sourdough culture from scratch (what you need for ingredients and equipment), including day by day examples of what to look for in your culture when fermenting it
  • How to maintain your culture once it is active 
  • How to know your culture is active enough to produce bread

This program is conducted through Zoom.
