Street Karaoke Sing-Along
Join the street karaoke event, led by award-winning Sask Music Indigenous singer/songwriter Berk Jodoin and singer/actor Krystle Pederson along with VJ Carrie Gates. This is held in conjunction with Cheryl L'Hirondelle's interdisciplinary project at the Dunlop Art Gallery.

Exhibition: Why the Caged Bird Sings: Immersive Engagements
All-night art tours of the exhibition by Cheryl L'Hirondelle, which includes immersive, interactive new work created as elaborations on the songs she wrote in collaboration with incarcerated and detained populations in Saskatchewan’s correctional facilities.

Installation: A seedling under the right conditions.
Visit the art installation created by community members with the guidance of artist Erika DeFreitas during her project, "A seedling under the right conditions". See the garden collages created by the community that considers gardens as spaces for growth, rebirth, and contemplation. To participate in the project, join Erika in the Creation Cube (George Bothwell Branch), August 8-18, 10:00am -3:00 pm or afternoon of August 12 at the Regina Folk Festival.

Open Mic Night: Peace and Power
In the Community Commons, join in the "Open Mic Night". It is for all skill levels. Share your poetry, spoken word, dance, rhymes, or anything you’ve been creating. Drop-in and be part of this inspiring event, as we celebrate peace, power, and collective action. Live painting by local artist Patrick Fernandez.

Cheryl L’Hirondelle (Cree/Halfbreed; German/Polish) is an award winning and community-engaged interdisciplinary artist, singer/songwriter and critical thinker whose family is from Papaschase First Nation / amiskwaciy wâskahikan (Edmonton) and Kikino Metis Settlement, Alberta. Her work investigates and articulates the intersections of nêhiyawin (Cree worldview) and contemporary time-place incorporating sound, Indigenous languages, music, and old and new technology. She is currently a PhD candidate at University College Dublin.
Erika DeFreitas’ multidisciplinary practice includes performance, photography, video, installation, textiles, drawing and writing. Placing emphasis on gesture, process, the body, documentation and paranormal phenomena, DeFreitas mines concepts of loss, post-memory, legacy and objecthood. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. DeFreitas holds a Master of Visual Studies from the University of Toronto.
