Masquerading as a historical retrospective, Golden Jubilee is a large scale installation by the artist's collective Turner Prize*. The artists have recreated exhibitions from each decade of the Dunlop's history, creating "covers" of works by Douglas Morton, Douglas Bentham, Tomiyo Sasaki, Leesa Streifler, Charles Rea, and Terrance Houle. This new body of work reflects on Dunlop Art Gallery's first fifty years while avoiding the sentimental yet authoritative tone typical of anniversary celebrations and accounts of history. Instead, it is an acknowledgement of the perversion of history that occurs in any archive, productively addressing the slippage of time and the failure of language to accurately convey the complexity of past experience. As an unreliable narrator, Turner Prize* combines archival research, first and second-hand recollections, new technologies, daydreams, and inside jokes to reimagine the Dunlop's history through an esoteric, witty, and highly suspect lens.

OAs the entity Turner Prize*, artists Jason Cawood, Blair Fornwald and John G. Hampton explore the mysterious, social and translative properties of the "creative act," focusing on the interstices between ideas and their representation. Their investigations into this liminal space utilize the language of dream analysis and interpretation, ritual and magick, and appropriate the aesthetics of mid-century pop psychology and psychedelia. Formed in early 2008, the Regina-based collective has presented performance, photographic, and installation based work across Canada and the United States.
