Casey Koyczan - raven: tatsǫ́
Additional Information
Casey Koyczan brings elements of nature into the gallery, creating experiences that blur boundaries between inside and outside, human-made and natural, and past and future. His multisensory installations invite viewers into immersive worlds shaped by sound, sight, and smell. Using technologies such as 3D modelling and fabrication, he constructs imagined environments that highlight how strange and astonishing the natural world is.
By combining modern techniques with materials from the land—branches and raven calls—Koyczan creates spaces where nature feels assertive and alive. His world-making offers hope and affirms the intelligence surrounding us. Trees, ravens, and other beings appear as mythic presences that nurture and challenge. Through his installations, the everyday becomes extraordinary, allowing you to reconsider your relationship with the living world.
Casey Koyczan is a Dene interdisciplinary artist from Yellowknife, NT, that uses various mediums to communicate how culture and technology can grow together in order for us to develop a better understanding of who we are, where we come from, and where we are going. He creates with whatever tools necessary to bring an idea to fruition, and works mostly in sculpture, installation, 3D/VR/AR/360, video, and audio works such as music, soundscapes and film scores.
