Queer City Cinema

Guest curator Gary Varro introduced Regina's first queer film series, curated around themes of Gender/Race, Home/Family, Desire/Sexuality, Memory/History. With over 55 titles from six countries, Queer City Cinema examined what it means to be lesbian, gay and/or transgendered. The series provides insight to "queer" expressions - cultural, economic, racial, political, sexual - to survey the frequently overlooked diversity within gay and lesbian communities. The works comprising Queer City Cinema were varied: they include humorous recollections of growing up queer; ironic and poignant tales of queer love; and searing political and social allegories. Queer City Cinema was funded by The Canada Council and the Saskatchewan Arts Board.
