Feast Your Eyes: Foodie Film Festival is a collaboration between the RPL Film Theatre and the Regina Farmers’ Market, and features a full course of screenings, performances, discussions, dinners and workshops.

Each screening is accompanied by a delicious serving of a local culinary creation.

Ulam centres on the honest struggle for authenticity and respect for a cuisine often marginalized by the food world. Deploying rousing interviews with owners, restaurateurs, top chefs, as well as mouth-watering dishes placed front and center, filmmaker Alexandra Cuerdo follows the heartaches and triumphs of contemporary chefs that seek a place for their culture at the dinner table, one dish at a time.

Alexandra Cuerdo is an award-winning director and writer recently named one of the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women In the World by the Filipina Women’s Network. Her feature directorial debut ULAM: Main Dish is the first Filipino food documentary to achieve worldwide distribution, and is now available on Hulu and Amazon Prime. She is currently pitching a TV pilot titled All I Want Is Everything, based on her experiences in New York City’s underground Asian rave scene.

Join us for a Q&A after the film with the director.

This film will be preceded by the short film:

2010 | 1 min | Canada | Kiarra Albina

As a young woman finds herself lost in daydreams while clumsily performing the tradition of making pierogies, she invokes the presence of her grandmother, who guides her through the messy ritual. The film is a fusion of hand-drawn animation, folk art and stereoscopic drawings made in space, by Calgary illustrator and filmmaker Kiarra Albina.

Kiarra Albina, is a Scottish-Ukrainian settler living in Mohkinstis. Albina applies her unique approach to drawing in a variety of media, including installation, books and animation. She studied art at the Alberta College of Art + Design and at Quickdraw Animation Society. Her current practice includes tattooing under the moniker “magick is afoot”
