A sheltered thirty-something pianist befriends an eccentric woman who helps him to discover his own path in life in this quirky drama from writer/director Sylvian Chomet (The Triplets of Belleville, The Illusionist). Raised in Paris by his aristocratic aunts from the age of two, Paul spends his every waking hour striving to honor their goal of seeing him become a virtuoso pianist. But lately Paul has been growing weary of his daily routine practicing the piano, and providing musical accompaniment for his aunt's dance class. His rigid and sheltered life has left him strangely child-like, until the day he encounters his upstairs neighbor Madame Proust, and samples her special herbal tea. When ingested with musical accompaniment, the curious blend conjures memories that had been buried deep in Paul's subconscious since childhood - memories that not only provide insight into his mystery-shrouded past, but also inspire him to live the life he never dreamt possible until now.
