Ven, who is a son of shipwrights, sets sail on an adventure after he is chosen to direct the inspection of his family's latest ship. On his journey, he is attacked by fire pirates and is rescued by a ship on its way to the island of Serendair. During this time, Ven is unaware that certain people intend to use him to get to the Floating Island which is the only source of the Water of Life.
