On June 28, 1751, in France, the first volume of a new encyclopedia was published. One man stands out as the driving force behind its creation and that man is Denis Diderot, the main editor of the Encyclopedia. Diderot held strong beliefs and ambitions. Some of his beliefs would get him into serious trouble -- even land him in jail.
