In New Orleans before the Civil War Davis plays Julie, an arrogant, spoiled beauty whose constant attempts to goad fiance Pres Dillard to jealousy finally backfire. Angry and disgraced, Pres breaks their engagement and leaves town. Julie endures a year of remorse until Pres comes home, married. Then Julie's vengeance explodes, destroying more than one life.
