In Tulsa, Oklahoma, a black man goes on trial for the murder of a white woman 10 years earlier. The crime occurred on a golf course where the accused, a teenager at the time, was working as a caddie. He was not tried, being ruled mentally retarded, but now a judge has reversed the decision. As he prepares to defend the black man, lawyer Ben Kinkaid finds evidence of a frame-up by people from Tulsa's high society with connections to drug smugglers. By the author of Double Jeopardy.
