The law said wild Johnny Toro must hang, and the Governor ordered that he die in his squalid hometown, to teach respect for the law. Gunfighter Clay Stocker seemed an odd choice to send down to keep the peace until young Johnny swung. A lot of men could go down before he mounted the gallows, but Stocker would survive.
