Outlaw gang leader Curly Ben Clovis hears of shipments of silver stored at Hashknife in southern Colorado. He sends his lieutenant, Jim Kane, to suss out the best way of seizing the silver. When Kane is mistaken for the new lawman, he assumes the guise of Marshal Jonas Kelly in order to secretly organize the robbery. But then he becomes embroiled in a dilemma where he is forced to make choices that will lead to double-dealing and bloodshed.
