It's been a bad year, so Taylor McShane warns his three children not to expect too many presents this Christmas, and goes in search of work at the mill to bring in a little money. Tired of looking after the others, Daniel takes his brother Jimmy sledding, with disastrous results, and then faces a dangerous journey to town to fetch a doctor for the injured boy. The Little Angels watch over Jimmy and Amelia, while they wait hopefully at home, and guide Daniel to Zeke, a kindly old man who gives hime new respect for their absent father. By the time the McShane family is finally reunited, Daniel will have learned an important lesson about thinking only of himself, with a little help-from alot of new friends.
