USA Today bestselling author library's new Writer in Residence

USA Today bestselling romance author Ev Bishop is RPL’s 2026 Writer in Residence. She is the first-ever romance author to be chosen for the position.

“Having the opportunity to support other writers as the RPL Writer in Residence is a childhood dream come true,” Bishop said. “I love helping people follow their writing dreams, improve their craft, and build a creative life.”

Bishop is an award-winning author of more than 20 novels. She’s best known for small-town contemporary romance and women’s fiction, including the River’s Sigh B&B series. She also writes under pen name Toni Sheridan. A columnist with the Terrace Standard for almost 20 years, she’s published numerous articles, essays, short stories, and poems.

“Ev brings a fresh perspective to the Writer in Residence role,” Nancy MacKenzie, Executive Director of Customer Experience at Regina Public Library said. “Her skills as a bestselling author will support Regina writers looking to improve their writing and reach new audiences.”

Bishop’s residency runs from January 19 to June 28, 2026. Regina residents can book appointments by emailing wir@reginalibrary.ca

The RPL Writer in Residence program offers advice and mentorship for aspiring, emerging, and established writers. Writers can receive one-on-one assistance with personal writing projects and attend programs and group workshops led by the Writer in Residence.
