International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The 2025 International Women's Day campaign theme is Accelerate Action.

In this presentation, Katelyn will discuss her experience with gender bias in engineering.  See how Katelyn’s ideology has changed, what she’s learned along the way, and how she has learned to thrive in a male-dominated field.

Presenter Information: Katelyn Sebastian, P.Eng, PMP is a Structural Engineer and the President of Driftstone Consulting, offering consulting engineering and project management services across Western Canada.  She has obtained a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from the University of Saskatchewan.  Katelyn leads a team of 17 engineers, technologists, project managers, and support staff, and is excited for continued growth.  She is proud to have built a woman-owned engineering firm with majority woman leadership in a traditionally male-dominated field.  Based on her lived experience and the shared experience of her colleagues, Katelyn feels an obligation and a calling to improve the experience of women and girls in leadership and in male-dominated fields.
