1. Exhibition - Connective Tissue

Location: Dunlop Art Gallery, Central Library

Join us for tours of "Connective Tissue", curated by Wendy Peart, featuring work by Sarah Cummings Truszkowski, Zun Lee, Dominique Rey, Melanie Monique Rose, Angeline Teoh Simon.
How do we make visible the powerful and intangible forces that bind us together in relation? This exhibition provides insights into how five artists approach this question through works that consider the vast depth and varied configurations of kinship. Through the perspectives of a parent, child, friend, or one who shares place and land, the artists give colour, shape and form to lived experiences that deepen our understanding of family. Together, the works create an opportunity for us to consider how our relations have been created, sustained, and nurtured over time — through forces such as love and loss, as well as generous acts of care and reciprocity. As such, this exhibition demonstrates that kinships are not rigid frameworks but thrive through complex ecologies of belonging.

2. Drop-In Workshop - Kaleidoscopes

Location: Community Commons, Central Library

Create a unique personalized kaleidoscope to celebrate this year's theme: The Great Unknown. Great for all ages and abilities. Youth under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

3. Artwork - "Common Ground" installation by Hallie Lang

Location: Sunken Garden, Central Library

The installation Common Ground considers experiences of domestic labour and the everyday acts of care that sustain relationships, traditions, and communities. Through a communal table setting, repeated ceramic forms, and inherited patterns, the work explores continuity through care and the knowledge and traditions passed between generations. The familiar space remains while the participants do not, drawing attention to what takes place before and perhaps after we arrive. Through preparation, repetition, and gathering, the work considers how practices of care are maintained, adapted, and carried forward.

Hallie Lang is a fourth-generation settler of Scottish and Ukrainian descent from rural South-Eastern Saskatchewan. A recent BFA graduate from the University of Regina, she works primarily in ceramics and installation. Her practice examines place, inherited knowledge, community structures, and systems of care.
