Doors open at 6:30 PM, and talks start promptly at 7:00 PM.

Quick & Dirty is a series of short artist talks by artists in the community. Talented artists that are involved in the Regina arts community will talk about their inspirations and creative processes in celebration of Culture Days. Artists will share how art and culture can impact Community, and how practicing art has changed their perceptions of Community.

Participating Artists: Bree Tabin, Jayden Thompson, Sara McCreary, Hallie Lang, and Mahtab Ghasemi.

Bree Tabin is an emergent multidisciplinary artist based in Treaty 4 territory, working with printmaking, sculpture, and installation. Their work is embodied in a variety of materials while exploring the connections between place, longing, identity and continual play. Influenced by the rooted network of prairie arts and their personal history, they make work that draws on shared reminiscence and the longing for things that once were or could have been. Maintaining parrhesia and queerness in their work, Bree creates for expression of duality and the exploration of endless curiosity. Bree holds a bachelor of arts degree in visual arts with Distinction from the University of Regina.

Jayden Thompson is a multidisciplinary artist based on Treaty 4 Territory in Regina, Saskatchewan. They will be graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Regina in Fall 2026 with a concentration in printmaking and photo-based art. In 2025, they curated and presented their first solo exhibition titled, My Queer Art on the UR Pride space at the U of R, expressing her belonging to queer art, to the Queer community and offering vulnerability in a Queer space. Jayden allows for ambiguity within their artwork, understanding it as both a personal necessity and a political position. Sara M. McCreary is a Métis and Scottish artist born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, whose home Métis community is Boggy Creek, Manitoba. She works primarily with textiles and stitching, exploring Métis material culture, family, and continuity. Her practice includes collaborative work in film, photography, sound, and other media.

Hallie Lang is a fourth-generation settler of Scottish and Ukrainian descent from rural southeastern Saskatchewan. A recent BFA graduate from the University of Regina, she works primarily in ceramics and installation. Her practice explores place, inherited knowledge, community structures, systems of care, and the labour behind everyday objects and practices. Drawing from rural life and domestic traditions, she is interested in how knowledge and relationships are carried through material and making. Learn more about their work on Instagram @ hml.studio

Mahtab Ghasemi is an Iranian multidisciplinary artist based in Regina, Canada. She holds an MFA in Visual Arts from the University of Regina and a bachelor’s degree in Handicrafts from the University of Art in Tehran, with both degrees focused on ceramics. Her work has been exhibited in Iran, Italy, and Canada. Rooted in her Iranian identity, her practice centres on Iran and the pursuit of freedom. Initially trained in ceramics, she now works with jute twine, fabric, wood, cardboard, plastic panels, painting, text, and protest slogans. She also uses her own body as a site for tattoo art and creates digital content to speak out about Iran. Shaped by the courage and defiance she has carried since childhood, her work refuses silence and injustice. Through layered symbols and contrasting materials, Ghasemi transforms personal and collective experience into acts of resistance, reflecting fearlessness, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to freedom.
