Teddy Syrette (Ozhawa Anung Kwe/Yellow Star Woman) is an Anishnabe 2-Spirit person of Rankin Reserve - Batchewana First Nation (Baawaating). Teddy uses they/them as their pronouns and is an advocate and storyteller for LGBTQ+ and Indigenous people, experiences and histories.
Teddy has a background in social justice, theatre and bingo. They’re a former alcoholic and have a diploma in social service work in Indigenous specialization from Sault College. Prior to Covid-19, Teddy travelled around Turtle Island sharing their story and advocating against homophobia, transphobia, racism and colonial trauma.
They live in Sault Ste. Marie (across the train tracks from Rankin Reserve) with their pug Hortus.
