Join us in celebration of the launch of Love & Weather, an album of unusual rock music by Glasgow-based artist Josh Thorpe and his Unusual Music Exchange project. Songs that are simple in form but complex in texture. They describe a world gone splendidly off the rails. This marks the first release of Unusual Music Exchange, an online library of interesting music.

The evening’s performance features live performances by Jeffrey David Morton, Forced Femme & Thinktank.

This vinyl is produced in partnership with Dunlop Art Gallery and YYZ Artists Outlet (Toronto), as part of an unusual series of events around sound, music, and listening in September 2021.

Josh Thorpe is an artist, musician, and writer based in Glasgow, Scotland. Thorpe has released two albums of songs (Love & Weather, 2021; Scrappy Art Rock You Can Dance To, 2018) and one album of experimental music (Flocklight, 2005). Thorpe recently launched Unusual Music Exchange, an online forum for unusual music.

Jeffrey David Morton is a Canadian composer, performer, and media artist. His works are playful, experimental explorations of sound, sound-making, and compositional processes using found and musical objects and materials. His work includes traditional and graphic notation for instrumental chamber music, DIY audio building and bending, and electroacoustic performance.

Forced Femme is Jaye Kovach (she/her; they/them) and Paula Bogdan (she/her). As Regina's hottest new dyke band, they are the perfect soundtrack for a frequently broken heart; undiluted queer rage with just a dash of romanticism featuring raw lyrics drenched in that classic, punk sound you know and love.

Thinktank is a creative collective based out Regina, Saskatchewan consisting directly of Theg0ldmolar (they/them), Allinesik (he/him) and Suke (he/him). Their interests span across multiple artistic mediums and hover between both introspective and political realms, while maintaining an air of light-heartedness. Their sound borrows from genres including hip-hop and dance music. The unconventional nature of Thinktank derives from the fluid dynamics that the group operates within. After 3 years as a collective, Thinktank will be performing their debut show at the Unusual Music Exchange.
