Memoir continues to be the signature genre of our age. What is it about the form that makes it elastic and enduring? This workshop will introduce writers at all levels of craft to some popular approaches the memoir offers. There will be a writing prompt and free-writing time to get participants started on a new project.
Presenter Information: Iryn Tushabe is the 2026-2027 Writer in Residence. Her debut novel, Everything is Fine Here, was long-listed for CBC's Canada Reads and shortlisted for three Saskatchewan Book Awards. Tushabe is a Ugandan Canadian writer and independent journalist. Everything is Fine Here was named a CBC Best Book of 2025 and won the First Book Award at the Saskatchewan Book Awards. She's published both fiction and creative non-fiction in places such as Literary Hub, The Walrus, and The Journey Prize anthology. https://iryntushabe.com/
