Presenter information
Roxanne Sims is a Métis educator who lives in the Saskatoon area. She has been beading for the past five years or so and has enjoyed it immensely. It is a hobby, but even more so, it is a connection to culture and community as well. She usually makes fringe earrings but has dabbled a little in flat stitch and, more recently, in beaded lanyards as well.
Participants will be making sash fringe earrings to represent the Métis sash, commonly recognized as a symbol of Métis culture. Beading takes time and patience, but it is very calming and enjoyable as participants meet in a community to learn and bead together. Embrace culture and craft together.
