Writer in Residence February 3, 2026, 10:21 AM

Meet the 2026 Writer in Residence!

Hello and greetings, I’m Ev Bishop, and I’m beyond delighted (and honoured!) to be Regina Public Library’s Writer in Residence from January 19 – June 28, 2026.

A bit about me:

Best known for small-town Contemporary Romance and Women’s Fiction, readers describe my books as “full of humor, love and wisdom,” set in places “where breathtaking scenery and the magic of love are the best medicine for the soul.”

I have twenty published novels under my belt (and more, always more, on the way!), and I’m a prolific scribbler of other things. I was a columnist with the Terrace Standard for almost 20 years, and my articles, essays, short stories, and poems have appeared in various publications. I also write under the pen name Toni Sheridan and for the production company Sterling & Stone.

Over the past twenty-five years, through my freelance writing and editing business, Ev’s Writing Services, I’ve been honoured to mentor writers and authors of diverse ages, backgrounds, and interests in a myriad of ways—and that brings me to:

A lot about you:

One of my primary goals as RPL’s Writer-in-Residence is to support local Regina writers.

Whether you’re a brand new aspiring writer with an idea in your head that just won’t go, an experienced, multi-published author who might want support with how to promote and market your work, someone who just wants to talk about the writing life with someone who “gets it,” or you fall somewhere on the spectrum between those things, some things I can provide are:

•    Answers or feedback about your work
•    Writing advice and suggestions on everything from research to writing your first draft to finding a market and/or choosing a publisher
•    Encouragement in your writing life (Your work matters. It really does!)
•    A professional critique of (or reader response to) your work

If you’re interested in going deeper into various elements of craft and connecting with other local writers, I’ll also be offering a series of craft-focused writing workshops, including at least one on publishing and marketing.

Please reach out to me at wir@reginalibrary.ca to book a time to chat in person or by Zoom, and/or to arrange for me to read some of your work.

My office hours at Central Library are Tuesdays from 1:00 – 9:00 pm, and my door is always open (unless the hallway is too loud). Please drop by and say hello! I also have some availability for Zoom or face-to-face meetings on Wednesdays from 1-8 pm

For more info, visit RPL’s Writer in Residence page, or just pop upstairs to see me.

I’d love to meet you and hear what you’re working on!
