Free legal information and resources at the library!
If you have legal needs but don’t know where to start, the Law Society of Saskatchewan will be at Central Library a few times per month to help you find legal information and teach you how to use legal resources. Their staff can refer you to organizations and lawyers that provide you with the legal advice you need, including those who offer free and low-cost legal assistance.
Drop-In Free Family Law Clinics are available in the Community Commons at Central Library, on Mondays starting this fall. The lawyers at Pro Bono Law Saskatchewan offer free assistance if you need help with court forms and processes, have family law questions, or are filling out applications in family court.
Together, the Law Society of Saskatchewan, and Pro Bono Law Saskatchewan, are celebrating Access to Justice Week on Oct 28 with an afternoon of events, including presentations, a trade show, and free law clinics. Some topics include wills, estates, power of attorney, family law issues, employment standards and laws, tenants’ and landlords’ rights and responsibilities, and general legal research.
We’ve also got helpful tools you can access from the comfort of your own home – or on the go! All you need is a library card, and you can sign into Legal Trac online. This resource contains full articles from major law reviews, legal newspapers, specialty publications, Bar Association journals, and international legal journals.
