Support Indigenous Business
What can I do? I’ve asked this question of myself many times since the Calls to Action for Truth and Reconciliation came out in 2015.
One of the things I can do immediately is support local Indigenous businesses. With the help of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce’s directory, I found out there are over 60 Indigenous-led businesses in Regina alone!
Whether I’m looking for a haircut or a gym or a hoodie, there are lots of options to choose from, and many also give back to good causes, have a wonderful origin story, or use Indigenous wisdom in their practices.
Here’s a list of ten local Indigenous-led businesses that you can look up right now. Maybe a few of them can become your new go-to.
- Tangles Hair & Beauty Salon
- Sweetgrass Communications and Event Planning
- Miyosiwin Salon and Spa
- Morningstar Counselling Services
- Anytime Fitness East and North
- Cardinal Sage Holistic Wellness Centre
- Neechie Gear
- Page Bookkeeping and Consulting
- Brooks Interview Coaching
- Anaquod Videography
